02 / Steadicam

Precision
in motion.

Camera movement that feels instinctive, controlled, and connected to performance. From tight interiors to long-form choreography, the movement should always serve the story.

I'm Alvin Octoman, a Filipino American cinematographer and Steadicam operator based in . Born and raised in Hollywood, I attended Hollywood High School before studying photography, design, and film at Pasadena City College.

I've worked professionally as a cinematographer since 2012 and as a Steadicam operator since 2017, primarily across commercials, music videos, and narrative films. I believe the best camera movement serves the story, helping audiences feel more connected to the world on screen.

What I enjoy most about filmmaking is the collaboration. I like working with people who care deeply about what they make, solving problems together, and helping bring a shared vision to life.

Outside of film, I enjoy woodworking, metalworking, furniture, and architecture. Making things by hand has sharpened my appreciation for materials, function, and detail.

I've always admired Isamu Noguchi, Tadao Ando, and Hayao Miyazaki. Noguchi's balance of sculpture and function, Ando's use of light and space, and Miyazaki's ability to build deeply human worlds all remind me that careful work can be both simple and lasting. They work in different mediums, but each approaches craft with patience, clarity, and respect for the audience.
